MD69BC Bearing Circle Sight for Bearing Compass Repeaters
The MD69BC is a classic vane-type Bearing Circle that enables observers to accurately take compass bearings by aligning the dual sighting vanes with a distant target.
OVERVIEW
The MD69BC is a traditional vane-style Bearing Circle designed for precise compass bearing measurement. Observers can obtain bearings by aligning two sighting vanes with an object in the distance. The front vane features a peep sight, while the rear vane is equipped with a vertical sighting wire. A horizontal wire connecting both vanes allows for easy reading of bearings from the Compass Repeater card.
Additionally, a reflector vane located behind the rear vane facilitates the observation of the azimuth of luminous celestial bodies (such as stars and planets) at different altitudes by capturing their reflection in a black mirror. When a celestial body is centered, its reflection will be visible behind the vertical wire of the rear vane. The MD69BC includes a removable shadow pin that indicates the sun’s azimuth based on the direction of the shadow cast.
This instrument is finished in Jet Black (RAL9005) with a fine-texture powder coat, ensuring it complements other marine navigation equipment. It is packaged in a wooden instrument case for protection and convenience.
Marine Data’s MD69BC Bearing Circle is versatile, user-friendly, and easy to maintain.
